Learn the job!
It was important for me to learn every aspect of every position I held. I wanted to know how everything worked and I never wanted to be in a position to have to depend on any one person to do a job. If that person was transferred or quit the unit, whatever show I was a part of needed to go on with or without the person. Knowledge was power and knowledge was important to law enforcement. At that point in my career, I did not go to work for the sake of going to work; I went to work to do my job and to learn.
